LARGE KILN DIRED LOGS
Our large bag of kiln dried logs are produced right here on our family farm from locally sourced wood, generally from less than 20 miles away! We season the roundwood for up to 12 months before processing into logs and then dry them down to 10% moisture in our kilns that are powered using solar panels for the electric fans and the heat is from our woodchip boilers which burn all our wood by products. We have two sizes of log available in the Giant bags for Nationwide delivery - 8" / 20cm (perfect for even the smallest fires) and 10" / 25cm (medium to large log burners and good size open fires)

SOUTH AFRICAN EUCALYPTUS
Why import firewood from South Africa? This firewood addresses two major issues in South Africa: unemployment and environmental threats These logs are from invasive, non native plants and their production provides long-term jobs for hundreds in the Overberg region, where unemployment reaches 49%. Alien species can threaten the natural balance of biodiversity in an environment; approximately 60% of the Agulhas Plain is infested with these species. During the 2018 drought in the Western Cape, Cape Town faced a "Day Zero" water crisis, with resources dropping below 15%. Invasive alien plants significantly contribute to this water security issue, as many local rivers supply the city’s water Invasive alien plants like Acacia, Eucalyptus, and Pine often out compete the native species and also fuel destructive wildfires.Deforestation of indigenous forests in Eastern Europe for firewood is something we have never wanted to be a part of. In contrast, we believe this firewood is actually achieving and socio economic benefits whilst also being bloody good wood! It is naturally air dried in the South African sun to roughly 12% moisture and is incredibly dense. It has a long, hot burn, but with lively flame and an intense glow. Split nice and small and cut to 9" these logs are easy to light and a pleasure to burn.
